"Every small movement is a powerful message to your body: I'm still here, and I'm moving forward."
You have been through so much. Your body has carried you through diagnosis, treatment, fatigue, and all the ups and downs in between. And now, you are wondering…. Can I move agin? ShouldI? How do I start without overdoing it?
If any of that feels familiar, this blog is for you.
The First Thing You Need to Know? You are Not Starting From Scratch
It’s easy to feel like your body has changed– and it probably has. But this isn’t about “bouncing back” or returning to the past. This is about being in the present, moving forward, with care, with compassion and the right support.
You are finding your foundations and you are rebuilding.
Why Movement Matters After Cancer
Research from Macmillan Cancer Support and CanRehab UK shows that gentle, structured exercise can reduce cancer-related fatigue by up to 40%. It can also improve bone health, support lymphatic drainage, and ease the emotional effects of treatment.
That is huge. But it has to be the right kind of movement– tailored to you, your energy levels, and your needs.
Safe Dosen’t Mean Sedentary
Here’s what supportive post-cancer movement can look like:
• Short, gentle sessions you cn adapt day-to-day
• Breath-led Pilates, focusing on mobility, core reconnection, and grounding
• Lymphatic support exercises to ease swelling or discomfort
• Balance and bone-building movements to gently restore strength and confidence
• Mindful movement to help you reconnect with your body without judgement
It is not about pushing through pain or ignoring fatigue. It is about working with your body, not against it.
Common Fears I Hear (And Why They’re Totally Valid)
“What if I do more harm than good?” – A valid worry. Thats why it’s so important to work with someone who understands post-treatment needs, scar tissue, fatigue, lymphoedema, and bone risk.
“What if I have lost all my strength?” – You haven’t. It’s still there, and with the right guidance it will return– gradually, gently, and sustainably.
“I don’t recognise my body anymore.” – Movement can help you rebuild that relationship. It becomes a way of saying, I’m still here, and I am learning to trust myself again.
You Deserve to Feel Safe and Supported
Whether you’ve finished treatment recently or years ago, it’s never too late to move again. But you shouldn’t have to do it alone.
That’s why I have created my 6-week Cancer Recovery and Wellbeing Programme. We combine gentle movement, breathwork, pelvic floor support, scar care and mindfulness– all designed with your recovery in mind.
It’s not just about exercise. It’s about you feeling seen, heard and supported every step of the way. It is about giving you enough information for you to take back control as you move forward.
